EDGE Africa/
Mali
Urban and rural communities in both west and east Africa provide the setting for EDGE participants work alongside host organization personnel to experience the daily challenge of living and working among Africian people.
Through it students gain a new understanding of the difficulty of cross-cultural living, and a greater understanding of other religions.
One of the ways that EDGE
students participate in is mobile medical relief work. Here is just glimpse of what God is doing in the lives and the hearts of Grace students.
Marie Says: “After we had set up our tables and arranged our medicine, a father came with his young teenage daughter. She had been sick for two years and had been losing lots of blood during the last few days. One of the bush "doctors" decided to remove a boil that had been growing on her lip. As a result of this, she began bleeding uncontrollably. He placed tea leaves on her lip to stop the bleeding. This "doctor" was not trained and punctured some veins during his "operation." As we took the girl to the hospital I was instructed to go along and put pressure on her lip to stop the bleeding. The missionary nurse and I were both praying that this young girl would make it and that she would not faint on us. The girl and I bounced around in the back, hoping the donkeys and giraffes would stay off the road; now was not the time to have an accident! :) We arrived thirty minutes later, admitted her to the hospital and thanked the Lord for His watch care over us.”
