Computer Usage

Campus Computer Policy

The use of Grace University Library, Computer Center computers, and access to the internet are available to authorized users only. Grace University is responsible only for the content on its official Grace University web pages. Computers that utilize Grace University’s network will be monitored regularly for explicit materials (see statement on pornography). Any computer usage in the Residence Halls or any other location on campus must be consistent with the policies listed below.

Grace University Library approved computer use:

  • Patrons are limited to the use of one computer at a time.
  • Grace students doing course related research are given priority access to the library’s computer resources. Users accessing non-course related email, chat rooms, or bulletin boards may be required to relinquish their computers if others are waiting for access to do research.
  • University provided e-mail username @.graceu.edu and other emails may be used in the library (limited use during peak hours.)
  • Use of programs that reside on University computers (i.e., word processor, spread sheet, database, desktop publisher, etc.).

Grace University Library prohibited computer use:

  • Disclosing your password or using another person's User ID and password. Prohibited Game playing in the library (Exception: used for a class)
  • Chat Rooms (Exception Grace chat rooms and class use)
  • Installing personal software and down-loading programs from the internet on University computers without prior authorizations by the appropriate system administrator.
  • Use of unauthorized and unlicensed software.
  • Propagation of computer viruses.
  • Sending, receiving, displaying or promoting illegal, immoral, threatening or destructive information, text, graphics, or audio.
  • Copying unauthorized software from University computers, breaking into files, or pirating software.
  • Any copyright protected material (i.e., MP3 files, movies, pirated software, etc.) is not to be downloaded using a Grace University network or telephone line. Due to our desire to become righteous citizens, those in violation will be subject to disciplinary action.
  • Accessing another’s computer without his/her knowledge or consent is considered unacceptable. Disciplinary measures will be taken if any of the above prohibited actions are taken.

Grace University Library Computer Facilities:

  • Food or uncapped drink is not allowed in designated areas.
  • Do not remove hardware or software from the Computer Lab or Library without authorization.
  • Treat equipment and furniture with respect.


Violation of Grace University's Campus Computer Policy will result in immediate suspension of computer use and may result in loss of University computer privileges (even if user is enrolled in courses requiring computer use) and/or appropriate University disciplinary action.
